Just Another Day

Today I worked on the same patient as I did last week. I was suppose to have two patients on my own today, but one cancelled and another student helped me with my second patient due to a lack of patients. It was nice to have the help while I get back into the swing of things.

I felt pretty good about my treatment session today. I kept a conversation going with the patient during the treatment, made a treatment plan with out any trouble, and I felt  I completed the stretches with the patient well.

I still need to work on my body mechanics while stretching out the patient. While I did better than last week, I still need to work on them. Also I need to review measuring with a goni. I forgot to measure the range.

A New Semester

Today was the beginning of clinic for the new semester. This semester is going to be a little different than last. There are no second years to help us during treatments. I am both excited and nervous about treating patients on my own. I am excited that I am finally at the next level, but nervous about not having the extra person to turn to. Although I got to work alone last semester, it is different because I will be on my own the majority of the time.

Today, I co treated with the SPT. I was kind of weird at first because last semester I did not interact with the SPTs too much because the second years were there. It was nice to get to work with the SPT because this is what I am going to have to do in the real world. It was interesting to see some of the differences in how we treat.

I worked with a great patient today. He was very funny and entertaining to talk to. The whole treatment session was stretching the patient. I need to work on using correct body mechanics while stretching the patient. I could feel when I wasn’t in the best position while stretching and my back started to ache at times. My plan for next week (if I work with the same pt) is to use the high low mat so I can use better body mechanics. I also want to take some measurements, so I can see where the patient is. Over all it was a good day.
